Mix Prayer Page

Welcome to the MIX Prayer Page! If you're here, it probably means that you have committed to praying for a Jr. High student before, during and after their time at MIX. We hope this guide will help you know how to lift these students up to our Father in Heaven.

Getting Started

You were probably directed to this website by following a link on the back of a key tag you received at church. But if that’s not how, we're still glad you're here. If you DO have a key tag, write the name of a specific student going to MIX on the space provided and attach the key tag to your keychain. Allow this to be a daily reminder to pray for that student every time you see the key tag.

What to Pray Before the Event

This year at MIX, our theme is, “THE THIRD PERSON…” We will spend the week walking through stories in Acts and discovering what it means to have the Spirit of the all-powerful God living inside us— giving us strength, changing us, and advocating for us. It is through Him that we have God alive within us. We worship the Father. We love Jesus, but it’s time for us to talk about the Third Person.

Please feel free to read along with us and pray as we prepare for the week of MIX. In the days, weeks, and months leading up to MIX, we ask you to begin reading through the book of Acts, specifically the stories in chapters 1,2,8,9, & 10. Also please join us in praying the following prayers that are inspired by the stories we read:

  • Pray that your student learns to listen to the spirit inside of them.
  • Pray that your student learns to trust in God’s strength day in and day out.
  • Pray that the Spirit makes changes in your students’ life.
  • Pray that your student comes home ready to do God's Kingdom work.
  • Pray that in this time leading up to MIX, God would protect your student’s heart against the evil one. Pray that God gives several opportunities for each student to experience the worship, community, and truth He has in store for them this summer.

What To Pray During the Event

Below are the daily themes and scriptures we'll be going through at MIX. We'd like to invite you to study along with us, praying specifically for God’s word to soak deep into the hearts of the students and His Spirit to make changes in their hearts.

Day 1: The Holy Spirit Restores

On Day 1 students will learn that it’s better to have the Holy Spirit inside us rather than Jesus beside us. Jesus said that if he left, he would send his Spirit as our Helper, Advocate, and FRIEND. Isn’t that incredible? God not only wants us to know Him, but he wants to be our friend and help us along our way. But God doesn’t ONLY want to be with us, He wants to be WITHIN us as well. When He dwells within, He empowers us to be the people God intends for us to be – aligning and ordering our hearts to look like His.

Passages: John 16:7 Jesus says it’s better for me to go

Acts 1:6-11 (The Holy Spirit restores within you)

Day 2: The Holy Spirit Restores In Us

On Day 2, we’ll challenge students to know the Holy Spirit restores our hearts and the Holy Spirit can restore any heart. We rejoice that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ…and it is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that makes freedom from the law and from sin possible. Just as our hearts need to be made new by God’s Spirit, so our lives and minds must

be restored as well. We must set our minds on the Spirit (Romans 8) in order to reap the fruit of sanctification and eternal life. The Spirit has indeed set us free, but freedom isn’t easy!

Passages: Romans 8:9-11 (Spirit of God dwells in you)

Romans 8:31-39 (Nothing can separate us from the love of God)

Acts 2:37-38 – (Repent; Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit)

Day 3: The Holy Spirit Restores Around Us

On Day 3 we’re going to learn and celebrate the truths that the Holy Spirit sets us free. The Holy Spirit sets everyone free of sin, isolation, and shame through the good news of the gospel. The gospel is for everyone! Everyone is meant to be free!

Passages: Galatians 5:18 (if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law) – free from law

Galatians 5:16-21 (For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit) – free from sin

Galatians 5:22-26 (If we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit) – free fruit

Acts 10:45 (the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles)

Day 4: The Holy Spirit Restores Through Us

On Day 4 we’ll show students that the Holy Spirit loves Kingdom Work and the Holy Spirit gives us power to do Kingdom Work. When God’s Spirit is within us, he sends us out to reach the world. Living by the Spirit in the world is going to require us to be wise, to pay attention, to look for opportunities where the Spirit might be leading us to point people to Jesus. God’s plan is for his church to reach the world – Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the Earth! No matter where we find ourselves, there is an opportunity to walk by the Spirit and join God on his mission. That could be in another country different than our own, in our hometown, or even in our own homes. God has promised his Spirit and has told us we will receive power, we must be attentive to the Spirit, trust him, and take a step of faith.

Passages: 1 Corinthians 12 (Spiritual Gifts) – used for Kingdom Work

1 Corinthians 13 (…but have not love, I gain nothing)

Acts 8:26-40 Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch (sermon focus)

Acts 1:8 (you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you)

Acts 4:31 (all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness)

Matthew 28:19-20 (go and make disciples …)

Eph. 5:15-20 – Living by the Spirit’s Power, Making the most of every situation

What to Pray After the Event

Often, this is the most important time to pray for students. As they adjust back to home and the real world, They're home and back in the real world. Life is hard and the temptation is to go back to the way things were. But God is calling them to SO MUCH MORE! During this time, find the student you've been praying for and ask them to tell you a little about their experience at MIX. Share that you've been praying for them and that you will continue to do so.

  • Pray that God gives them the strength to stand firm in their home, school and social settings.
  • Pray that God continues to challenge them by sending people to them that will display Christ and challenge them.
  • Pray that God reveals to them how they can play a role in His Kingdom right now.
  • Pray that through them, God would bear fruit that would last for generations.

Thank you, again, for praying for these students. We truly believe that it is of infinite worth.
