CIY Statement on Racism —

By Jayson French

The murder of George Floyd has brought new attention to a global conversation. Christ In Youth will continue to encourage people to boldly stand against the sin of racism.

CIY believes in the Imago Dei - that God’s face is revealed in the kaleidoscope of human color and cultures. We are committed to calling out racism in our cities, our systems, and our hearts. We are committed to modeling true unity as Christ encourages us to do. And we are committed to listening, creating space, and modeling CIY after the throne room of heaven.

We believe that Jesus can redeem everything. His Gospel will change eternity, and we pray it also changes our present. May Jesus redeem inequality and injustice through mercy, grace, and truth. We call on Kingdom workers to cling to the Gospel as they work alongside civic and community leaders.

We believe that young people are making a difference, so we invest in our future. A future of Kingdom workers who use their voices for good. A future that rejects sinful racism and embraces diversity as important to God’s heart. A future that recognizes that this is a time for Kingdom work.
