Northern Ireland Salt Factory 1 Update 3
Posted: Tuesday, June 18, 2019
Greetings! It’s nearing midnight here in Lisburn, and what an incredible day it has been!
After finishing up training this morning we went to Ballymacash Primary School for sports club. We had a phenomenal time teaching and playing different sports and games with the students. It simply creates a bridge and connection with the students where it makes diving into conversation a bit easier. And, with it being stereotypical Northern Ireland weather, it rained—which meant all of our groups went inside and spent time in classrooms or in the gym. But it created really great opportunities to get to know some of the kids, and to be asked questions about American culture and our faith. We loved it!
This evening we kicked off Holiday Bible Class (carbon copy of VBS), and our crew had an absolute blast! Our kids and sponsors are doing an excellent job of jumping in with both feet by serving and loving on these kids. And when I say jumping in with both feet, I mean it literally! We do the Monkey Dance with the kids as a hype song, and ALL of our group gets involved. (Check out this link to get an idea about what I’m talking about: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XN9ftVWi_jE) It’s good fun, and we look like fools, but we do it because we want to be fools for Jesus!
Nevertheless, it was great being about to share the story of Samuel with the different age groups, and all of our students are stepping up wonderfully to lead the lessons, quiz times, memory verses, prayer time, and so on.
We’ll bring doing these clubs and HBC throughout the week, so pray for our crew as we simply try to be salt and light to these kids. It’s long days, but wow, is it incredibly fruitful in more ways than we can count.
Until next time, grace & peace.
