Northern Ireland RIOT 1 Update 6
Posted: Wednesday, January 09, 2019
Every once in a while, you have one of those days or moments that you know will change everything. When you know that nothing is going to be the same after this. That was today. That was this morning! A huge part of this trip is for the team to understand how their faith plays out in their everyday lives and then to take that home with them. Funny thing about living out your faith is that it rarely happens within our comfort zones. So this week we’ve been pushing the team to get out of their comfort ones and to take risks.
Today the challenge was for all of them to share about how God is working in their lives, or about a time when God grew them in significant ways. We gave them both yesterday to begin to process these stories and then after breakfast and quiet times this morning we challenged them to share those with the rest of the team. Boldness and vulnerability came to the forefront as students shared from their hearts times when the Lord stretched and grew them even if they didn’t know it at the time. Two members of the team are sharing those stories with the youth at the RIOT Youth Center each night.
After sharing our stories with one another, we went on a gorgeous walk to take a much-needed emotional breather and allow God to refresh us. The Irish Sea in front of us and the Mourne Mountains to the right of us, we were reminded of God’s faithfulness and power. …we also ate the best fish and chips in the world…
This team grew today. They grew in their love for each other and in their love for Jesus. I can tell you’re praying for us. Thank you. Please continue to pray that God will give us boldness and clarity as we follow the Spirit’s leading. Pray also for divine appointments for us to share our stories with people who need to hear it. This trip has been incredible so far, and I truly believe that the best is in front of us.
