Northern Ireland RIOT 1 Update 4
Posted: Monday, January 07, 2019
There are few things quite like standing in a room full of people that you’ve never met, never seen before, and will likely never seen again in this life, and know you’re among family. This is a beauty only experienced in the family of God. We were so blessed today to be able to bookend our day with just that experience.
We spent the morning worshipping with brothers and sisters at the traditional Newcastle Presbyterian Church and then in the evening we worshipped at the newly established Journey Church in Downpatrick. The styles of teaching and worship stood in stark contrast to one another, but the message we took away was the same: The Church Matters. Kingdom work was never meant to be done in isolation. As we grow and go our separate ways, Kingdom work simply cannot look the same for all of us, but no matter what form it takes in each of our lives, the truth remains that it is meant to be done in community. We need the church, and the church needs us.
Today we glimpsed just how huge that Church is and we go to sleep tonight with hearts that are filled with hope and joy. Thank you for praying for us. Those prayers are felt. We look forward to a restful night tonight and another day tomorrow of learning more about how God is calling each of us to live as Kingdom workers.
Goodnight. - Lane
