We have arrived in Northern Ireland! The team arrived safely into Dublin around noon today and were picked up at the airport by Richie Shilliday (mission partner with RIOT). We drove about two hours from Dublin to Dundrum with a stop about midway at a monastery dating back to the early 500’s. That was the first of many historical and cultural stops of this trip as we learn more about this country and dive into the work that God has been doing here for hundreds of years. We’re blessed and honored to join in that work for the next week while we serve and learn.
After arriving in Dundrum we were welcomed by the RIOT staff and ate a delicious lunch. To keep jet lag from taking over the rest of the day, we went for a “wee dander” (approximately a four-mile walk) as we explored some of the beauty around this area. Right after the walk we went to an evening church service in the next town over, Newcastle. Eye lids were getting heavy during the service, but everyone did a great job of participating. After this we came back to RIOT for dinner and then hit the showers and bed. After a long travel day, getting to bed early is a gift from Jesus.
Everyone is doing well and we’re excited to get the week rolling. Anticipating the Lord to do incredible things in and through this team as we immerse ourselves in this culture and in building relationships with local youth. Pray that we love well and that our eyes and ears are open to the Spirit’s leading.
