But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” Matthew 19:14
On Wednesday we got the privilege to attend the school Elshaddai. Elshaddai is a school that Jacaranda supports and has a huge focus on teaching children about God and His never-failing love. We arrived at the school grounds and not a moment later the whole group was surrounded by children. They were giving us high fives, hugs, and wanting to braid our “beautiful hair.” Playing with these children was an amazing experience, but what was even better was getting to share God’s love with these children. The principal of Elshaddai informed us that many of their children come from broken families and don’t receive much love at home. When the children just wanted to hold our hands or be talked to, they really just wanted someone to show them love.
Through teaching a Bible lesson to the children about David and Johnathan, making friendship bracelets with them, worshiping with them, and watching their performances, we got to love the students of Elshaddai. Showing love to these children was super easy. It was very hard to say goodbye though and when the time came, none of us wanted to leave. Reluctantly, we got on the bus and right away the tears started to flow. It was hard because we may never see these beautiful children again. As our bus started to pull out, a wave of children came chasing after us, all telling us goodbye and how much they loved us. Again, more tears, waves, and goodbye’s to show them how much they were loved by us and God.
Psalms 127:3 says: “Children are a gift from the Lord.” After today, our whole team can vouch for this verse, as these children were truly a gift from the Lord.
