Honduras Spring Break Update 5
Posted: Thursday, March 21, 2019
Wednesday was great and full day as we visited another rural village in the mountains. The travel time to get there was 2.5 hours, yet we were only 20 miles away (as the crow flies) from the mission house in Tegucigalpa. As you can see, traveling on the rough mountain terrain is no joke!
We arrived to set up a clothing distribution through the local church. Clothing was laid out on the floor and people in the area were able to shop and pay a small amount of money for the clothes they picked out. It reminded us of a garage sale back home in the US. While the adults were shopping, the little kids were next door with our team doing a Bible lesson, craft, and then eventually heading to a field across the street to play futball.
During our lunch break, Felipe shared with the team the story of how God led him and his family here to Honduras. We got to ask lots of questions and truly be encouraged at God’s provision and Felipe’s obedience and faithfulness during this call to serve here in this country.
Once we got back to the mission house we chilled for a bit before dinner. We distributed out the coffee we had purchased from Hill Climber and helped package bags that will be taken to the US to sell.
We had a relaxing evening, which was a good mental break from the long day. We finished out the day with a group time to pray over Felipe and His Eyes since Felipe is traveling back to the US on Thursday to be with family. We’re so grateful for the time we had to be with him and learn from him. The impact he’s had on our lives and the lives of those here in Honduras is immeasurable.
Thanks for all of your continued prayers. We can’t believe how quickly the week has gone, but we know there is still so much good in store and so much more than God has for us here. We’re a bit tired (as expected after the long days), but we’re grateful for good health and excited and ready for more of what’s to come!!
