Dominican Republic Spring Break Update 6
Posted: Saturday, April 06, 2019
On Thursday, the team took a day to experience more of the Dominican culture. Team members walked around exploring the many vendors of the market & bartered for souvenirs to bring home. Then, they were spoiled with a view right off of the water while eating lunch. After full bellies, the team loaded up the sunscreen & spent a couple of hours soaking up the sun, splashing in the ocean, & playing a game of football on the sand.
For dinner, the team had the privilege of eating at a local family home for girls who have been orphaned, abandoned or whose parents have been put in prison. El Circulo Church partners with this home on a regular basis. The church provides food & physical maintenance on the property as well as consistent relationships with the girls. Basketball, selfies, & attempts at Spanish were all among the activities the team participated in while hanging out at the home. It was a beautiful reminder that no matter the language barrier, great Love can be displayed & relationships can be formed. What a gift it was to see the word God is already doing in the home.
Team time that night was consisted of Ella & Anna sharing their devotion about trusting in God. They bravely shared their personal experiences in how they have been pursuing that truth even among life’s difficulties.
The day was busy, eyes were heavy, & hearts were full.
