Dominican Republic 2: Update 1
Posted: Monday, July 09, 2018
¡Hola de la República Dominicana!
Hello from the Dominican Republic! We have been here in Santo Domingo for less than 48 hours, and already we have experienced so much of God's goodness. This morning we got to worship with our friends at El Círculo, our church partner in Santo Domingo. We had an exciting time of worship and a message that was relatable to both Dominicans and us from the United States.
Immediately when we arrived Friday evening, we were welcomed with open arms by our Dominican hosts. The hospitality we have received has made the transition so easy for us. Yesterday we had the unique opportunity to visit a leper colony and to share prayers and songs with the residents. It was educational, eye opening and a bit sad, but the hope of Jesus and of eternal life prevailed.
Yesterday afternoon we had the opportunity to visit the Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo. This is where many of the first settlers from Europe established roots and developed some of the modern infrastructure in the West. Experiencing the pride that our Dominican friends have in the foundations of their country was very refreshing for all of us.
We are thankful to the Father that our travels have all been safe and that everyone has remained healthy. We are looking forward to experiencing all that God has for us this coming week, and we ask for your prayers in a couple different ways. Firstly, we ask you to pray for our continued humility and that we will learn all that we can about this culture in the short time we have here. And secondly, we ask your prayers for our time with International Justice Mission over the next few days. They are doing some amazing work for the Kingdom, and we are so excited to be a small part of what they are doing here.
Thank you for your prayers and support. We will be posting another update soon, so stay tuned!
