2019 Northern Ireland RIOT 3 Update 4

June 25th was day six of our mission trip. Richie read a little to us from a book called, “Creative Minority” which spoke about how the Church is seen as irrelevant and extreme when it should be viewed as a light; a city on a hill. The author of the book said that we should not abandon people or communities but rather show love and move out of our comfort zone for them.
After our lesson and a lunch that consisted of fish and chips, we all went to Tollymore Forest which Richie described as a “thin space” where Heaven seems closer to Earth than other places. This forest is where it is said C.S. Lewis got the inspiration for Narnia and as I walked through the beautiful place, I could see how. Everything looked ancient and gentle but also majestic and strong. There were ferns and flowers that grew from everywhere and a stream that ran through the woods. One of the only things I could think walking through was, “Wow. God is amazing.”
There is something really humbling about seeing such great areas in creation like the Tollymore Forest. It gives you an even bigger appreciation for the Lord than you had before. In my opinion, that forest truly did seem like a thin space.
