2019 Northern Ireland RIOT 2 Update 3
Posted: Tuesday, June 11, 2019
A good Monday here in Northern Ireland with a schedule that will feel more familiar as the week unfolds. We spent the morning visiting and working on testimonies (one of the ways that the team will serve this week is by sharing testimonies each evening at the youth event) and learning about St Patrick. After a quick lunch, we hit the road to explore the nearby St Patrick monuments and museum in Downpatrick. It’s crucial to understand the importance of St Patrick to grasp the history of Ireland. And Christianity!
They opened the RIOT Youth Centre in the evening and we hosted our first session of the week. Young people from around the community joined us for what felt like youth group back in the States. Pickup futbol started in the field, others hung around and chatted over tea and biscuits. The night ended with three from the Engage team sharing their testimonies and a little group worship. All in all, a Monday for the books!
