2019 Cambodia 1 Update 7
Posted: Monday, June 03, 2019
The last two days have been a blur. We went to worship at a Cambodian Methodist church Sunday morning. The songs were familiar in local language and accompanied with keyboard, drums and guitar. The sermon came from John 21 about Peter’s conversation with Jesus. It was a good experience. Right after worship we ate lunch and headed for the Angkor Wat temple. The heat was challenging but the team walked from back to front exploring and taking pictures.
After the temple we drove to a second, smaller temple. Along the way we noticed elephant rides taking place. So every student on the team paid $20 for a ride and picture. It was a great event. We went through one more temple and then headed home for a well-deserved swim in the pool and pizza party. On Monday we got up early for devotions with the Rapha House staff. Next we had a tour of the safe house with our new friend Jenny. We learned a lot about the differences in the way they operate. We returned later in the afternoon for games with the kids. It was a lot of fun playing together. We left the home and returned to our hotel for our last night together. One more debrief and one wake up and we are on our way home.
