The Location

Tegucigalpa

In Honduras, Engage partners with the ministry of His Eyes and local church leaders to encourage and serve people in Tegucigalpa and the surrounding communities. You will have different opportunities for Kingdom worker training as you help with one-day VBS projects, clothing distributions, work projects, food distributions, hospital visits, encouragement in the local church, and helping work the coffee farms in the rural mountains. Felipe and Valerie Colby moved to Tegucigalpa in 2000 and have been serving through His Eyes ever since. His Eyes is an organization established to serve God’s work in and around Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Specifically, the mission reaches out to the people in Tegucigalpa through a medical clinic and several clothing stores. The mission also oversees four Church plants, a coffee project (Hill Climber Coffee), and many food distribution projects. As you team up with this exciting ministry, you will experience what it’s like to live out the Gospel in another culture.

Zika Notice

In preparation for future Engage International trips, we are monitoring the Zika Virus. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued travel notices to certain regions and countries where Zika virus transmission is active (Latin America and parts of the Caribbean). Zika Virus is spread to people through mosquito bites, and the most common symptoms are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting from several days to a week. The need for hospitalization is uncommon, however, there is increasing evidence that its effect on pregnant females is more dramatic and may cause birth defects and poor pregnancy outcomes. We will continue to assess this situation with updated information from the CDC.
