The Location

Haiti

Haitian Christian Mission (HCM) has been spreading the love of Jesus throughout Haiti for many years and the ministry continues to expand. Engage teams dive into the culture and join the work that is already in progress through HCM. There is such a variety of ministry taking place and Engage will serve where HCM has needs, whether that be through playing with and teaching Bible lessons to kids, praying for the sick in their medical clinic, leading a sports camp through their soccer and basketball programs, providing extra hands for work projects, or simply being an encouragement to the HCM staff. While there is much brokenness in Haiti, God is healing hearts and restoring lives. Come see and learn what it means to love like Jesus loves.

In preparation for future Engage International Trips in 2016, we are monitoring the Zika Virus. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued travel notices to certain regions and countries where Zika virus transmission is active (Latin America and parts of the Caribbean). Zika Virus is spread to people through mosquito bites, and the most common symptoms are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting from several days to a week. The need for hospitalization is uncommon, however, there is increasing evidence that its effect on pregnant females is more dramatic and may cause birth defects and poor pregnancy outcomes. We will continue to assess this situation with updated information from the CDC.
